Department of Biology FMIPA UNP
Established in October 1967, the initiators of the establishment of this Biology Department were first-year students from this department, they were students who took the university entrance test. At first they numbered 24 people, they participated in the selection to enter Higher Education in 1964, the College was named FKIP Jakarta Branch (which later became FKIP Padang), and they graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A).
Their first year of study, there are many joys and sorrows they experience, such as the absence of guidelines for studying or practicing, lectures that rely on hearing, Lecturers who are not from the field of Biology and their studies join other campus students, but behind it they very solid, after every time they study and practice they always discuss to equate the concepts they receive. As time went on, the number of first batch biology students began to decrease, in 1965 there were 2 students involved in the Gestapu, 1 person died, 1 changed majors and 1 person got married.
Due to the absence of a clear curriculum in that early year, they were able to take 42 courses which were actually not fields related to Biology, this first batch graduated on June 30, 1967 and at the same time they inaugurated the establishment of the Biology Department, FKIP Padang (hereinafter become the Department of Biology FMIPA UNP)
